Brooklyn Bailey

Brooklyn Bailey is from right here in Whitman County from the small farm town of St. John. She has spent her whole life passionate about agriculture, most currently involved in farming wheat, hay, and cattle outside of St. John for Bonnie Lake Land & Livestock.

She began her college career at Montana State, working in the Wheat Quality Lab. After moving back to Washington, she joined the WSU Barley Breeding Lab in September of 2023. When not in the field at home, she’s here at the lab immersing myself in the world of genetics, currently contributing to mapping stem rust resistance genes in barley and combining them for highly resistance elite barley lines. One of hey favorite parts of the lab is planting and taking care of her own barley plants and being able to extract the DNA to learn further about these crosses and their genes. She is studying Agriculture Technology & Production Management with the pursuit of becoming an agronomist. She is also the WSU Young Farmers & Ranchers 2024-2025 Vice President.

Outside of WSU, she enjoys driving combine or tractor on the Palouse hills, being a part of her hometown’s ladies league golf, playing pickleball & basketball, swing dancing with friends, and cooking.
